Last season too, Arsenal seriously threatened to take the lead, but City was more cohesive when it mattered, towards the end of the season. Before the break, Arsenal won against Burnley at their Emirates Stadium and went into the break somewhat relieved. Their city rivals Brentford lost at Anfield, ending their streak of three consecutive victories, having beaten Burnley, Chelsea, and West Ham in succession. In the two previous seasons, since the Bees have been in the top flight, Arsenal has won once and lost once at the Community Shield. Now they face a very tough task, but if they plan to compete for the title, they must win in such matches. It seems more realistic to expect goals, and Arsenal should score at least two.

Six rounds remain until the end of the first part of the championship, and at the BayArena, they hope to stay on top and celebrate the Christmas and New Year holidays as the leading team. Now, the Pharmacists travel to Bremen where Werder, unbeaten in the last three rounds, awaits them. In their last five visits to the Weser, Leverkusen hasn’t lost, winning three matches and drawing twice. Again, we expect a win for them, and there should be plenty of goals.

The French runner-up has managed to win away only once in the current season. This includes matches in the Champions League, where they took one point in Sevilla and suffered a minimal loss in Eindhoven. In Ligue 1, they celebrated only at Strasbourg, thanks to a single goal scored, so it’s no wonder that Lens is currently only in 6th place with a double-digit gap behind the leading duo of Paris Saint-Germain and Nice. The host of this match, Clermont, is in a much more unfavorable position. They are in the penultimate 17th place with just 9 points from 11 matches. Behind them is only Lyon, and that’s a real sensation. Clermont has problems scoring goals; they have only scored 8 so far and are convincingly the least efficient team in the league. In November, Clermont played quite well, losing only once but recorded two very important victories. They won at the Gerland against Lyon and at home against Lorient, both of whom are direct competitors. We expect a tough match in Clermont that could be decided by just one goal.

The derby of the round in the Dutch Eredivisie is played in Enschede, where third-placed Twente hosts the unbeaten PSV, the league leader. The Philips team has achieved as many victories in 12 matches and already has a solid 7-point lead over the current champion and first follower, team Feyenoord. Right behind them is Twente, a team that has collected 27 points, two less than Feyenoord, and is hoping for at least a qualification for the Champions League next summer. For PSV, this could be the toughest match of this autumn; Twente has played 6 matches at their stadium, winning five, and only NEC took a point thanks to scoring three goals in Enschede. Twente also managed to beat Feyenoord at home, thus doing a big favor for PSV. The Philips team faces an important Champions League match at the Sanchez Pizjuan in Seville on Wednesday, and with their focus on that away game, Twente’s chances of causing a surprise are increasing. Generally, goals are guaranteed and there will be on both sides.
